A Masonic Talk by Clive Moore. 12 A5 pages including some illustrations, plus illustrated covers.

The United Grand Lodge of England is the world's oldest Grand Lodge; its history stretching back to 1717 and the formation of the Premier Grand Lodge in London. In 1813 it united with its younger rival the Antients, or Atholl, Grand Lodge; and this booklet is about the crucial, although often overlooked, role that the Antients played in the development and growth of English Freemasonry.

It gives a brief history of the Antients Grand Lodge, from its beginnings in London's Soho in 1751, through to the Union with the Premier Grand Lodge in 1813. It has sections on administration, growth, regalia, ritual, the Union, and a useful list of the surviving 122 Antients Lodges with their locations. Perhaps most interestingly it details the often overlooked Atholl legacy to English Freemasonry, showing how they helped to bring about changes that are still benefiting UGLE members today.
