Svobodné zednárství ocima zednáru - Freemasonry Through the Eyes of Freemasons
Published to mark the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Grand Lodge of the Czech Republic (1923-2023), Freemasonry Through the Eyes of Freemasons (Svobodne zednarstvi ocima zednaru) gathers personal reflections from Czech and Slovak Freemasons on a tradition that has quietly shaped the spiritual, cultural and civic life of their country for a century.
The book traces the history of Freemasonry in the Czech lands, from the earliest lodges through the founding and ceremonial consecration of the National Grand Lodge of Czechoslovakia in 1923, and introduces the lodges working under the Grand Lodge of the Czech Republic today. Chapters cover the rites practised under the Grand Lodge, profiles of its Grand Masters, portraits of 67 distinguished Czech Freemasons, and a two-page spread prepared by each of its lodges - a unique and authentic view from the inside. The closing chapter commemorates the centenary and the exhibition that accompanied it.
Fully bilingual with the complete text in both Czech and English, the book opens the door to the inner life of the Order - its rituals, values and symbolism - in a sober, readable and human tone, written for Freemasons and the general public alike.
